Book Blog Tour Review and More…
There’s a reason I call this Blog “Incidentally”. I communicate in continuous thoughts, not always connected clearly for the sake of my audience. They are incidental. Unrelated outwardly, but in my stream of ever-running, rumination, they make perfect sense.
Look. Here’s the deal.
You can’t expect a teacher who finally has a (presumptively captive) audience after the first weeks of school, to not take advantage of the situation. For this reason alone, our Book Promotions Company Xpresso Book Tours and their touring author Kay aka Kaitlyn Davis (you need to check out her Instagram , she’s super cute!) will get a chance to exercise patience with me as I wind through a book review with a few narrative detours.
Tomorrow night At Back to School Night, I will be focusing on how to get our kids to love reading. It’s a major struggle. As there are genres for all types of books we love, there are specific sub genres within these as well. THIS is what builds the casual reader into a true book fanatic. Discovering their love of different genres and exploring various authors within, will bridge the gap of readers to book lovers. This is the key 🔑. Parents and teachers, remember this! Thanks to Websites such as Goodreads and Biblionasium for kids, more people are keeping track of their reading and developing trends, favorites and exploring books within social media platforms. While as a reader, I find that I’ve adored contemporary romance, I’ve been gravitating lately to authors in the deep, darker more complex areas of storytelling: Romantic Suspense, Thriller, Action and Mystery.
I needed a change of pace from the Italian Mob and the Drazen Family, with whom I had been building a seriously overly dependent relationship. A distinct break from my twisty, edgy, unexpected-out-of-left-field book was needed. I had been finding that I couldn’t start my days so deep and dark then face a room of 9 year olds. I had a brand new ARC (advanced reader copy) to read for my latest Blog Tour review and it was perfect solution….
For those who are just venturing into the Romance genre, I might suggest our Guest of Honor, the first in a NEW series Hot Pursuit (To Catch a Thief Book 1), as a place to start. Not sure if you are ready to subscribe to Kindle Unlimited yet? This book is on sale right now for .99 cents! If you like the idea of cat and mouse or even FBI vs. Criminal, this is a great book to read as a literary litmus test.
To be perfectly honest and clear, if you are a critical College Professor or English Teacher, you may struggle reading this book. There are some aspects to the authors writing style that will bring out your inner editor. Not that it’s a badly written book, I certainly didn’t find errors or mistakes. It’s just not literature. To go into a light romance read thinking you are going to get complex sentence structures isn’t appropriate here. I’ve noticed instances of books being rated lower with this type of complaint on various platforms. Don’t expect to dive into the characters’ world through inference, rather than seeing all their cards laid on the table upon meeting them. There isn’t a ton of thinking you have to do. I know plenty of readers who prefer and appreciate this type of writing so if you are looking for some dark mind blowing FBI drama, it’s best you consider yourself informed before paying those big bucks and save an independent author an unnecessary dip in her efforts.
Go ahead and judge this book by its cute and colorful cover! Hot Pursuit is a fun light and flirtatious read.
To be clear, with respect for the author and in regards to an honest review, I gave the book itself 3 out of 5 stars on Goodreads. I would refuse to say that 3 is a sub par score. This book is reasonable and worth of purchase and enjoyment! For the integrity of my own records of review, for my “audience” and most importantly, what make me feel the most powerful reactions-positive and negative, my top contenders are usually 4 our of 5 stars and only my most favorite, what I feel when reading most amazing of books that impact my life, receive 5 out of 5 stars.
For what it is, Hot Pursuit is an entertaining, first in a series for those who love a little spark between a our little cat and mouse.
It’s a “book-com”!
You know, a book + sitcom? 😂

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days meets White Collar in this sassy and sweet romantic comedy, new from bestselling author Kaitlyn Davis, writing as Kay Marie.
All Jolene Carter has ever wanted is a bakery of her own. There’s only one problem. Her father, Robert Carter, is a world-renowned art thief and she’s, well, sort of his protégé. But he’s promised her this next job in New York will be their last, and she won’t let anyone get in the way of her dreams…especially not the distractingly delicious FBI agent hot on her tail.
Agent Nate Parker has been on the Robert Carter case for years, and if rumors of the aging criminal’s retirement are true, this might be his last chance to nail him. With the legacy of his late father in the back of his mind, the stakes are more personal than anyone realizes. He won’t let anything stand in the way of justice…especially not the red-headed vixen who keeps giving him the slip.
He’s a cop who’d never bend. She’s a con who’ll never break. But all’s fair in love and larceny…
